Your Stay

When prepping for a music/camping festival, some essentials are obvious:

Pillow, change of clothes, festival ticket etc. However, every festival is unique, and presents it’s own set of challenges.

So, on that theme, here is a list of 10 Essential Items (that may not be obvious) to make your experience easier at BYL festival: Encouraged Items (BRING!!!!!)

1) Ear Plugs: BYL Festival is a proud patron of MB owned Industry Audio. Their cutting edge sound systems pack some serious power; it is truly something to behold! That being said, permanent hearing damage is a definite risk for those not protecting their ears. Should you forget, BYL has a few areas where free foam ear plugs can be obtained. However supplies are limited and there are far superior ear plugs on the market that really enhance your musical experience - so we Highly recommend ear plugs for everyone! *** the music also runs quite late, so earplugs may also help you get a few extra hours of sleep

2) Additional Fasteners for your tent : Manitobans are likely quite familiar with the types of winds we often face in rural MB, and Ledwich Farm is No Exception! It can get quite gusty out here; so additional tent spikes can help ensure your tent survives the weekend undamaged. Our recommendation: 10 inch spiraling nails + Washer - these are available in most hardware/home improvement stores for $1-3 per unit. Shop Here

3) Change of clothes for big shifts in temperature: This year BYL is happening in early August and we are excited for the sun and hot weather. However as many of you know, it can get Very hot and sunny during the day, and even so, evenings can get quite cool and very humid, and really anything in between can happen on a summer day in Armstrong MB. We promise you will be happier packing an extra sweater you don’t need, than you will be freezing your butt off on a cold night (although it would be the perfect reason to buy a BYL Hoodie)

4) Food and snacks: There is a diner 5 minutes away in Inwood, MB, and a small grocery store and 24 hour gas station in teulon 20 minutes away. We also have onsite food vendors - However we encourage campers to be prepared, as sometimes circumstances can still make these options out of reach if you have no vehicle, or have been drinking, and are in need of a late night snack. We absolutely encourage buying food from our vendors, but for safety’s sake, please come prepared.

5). Insect/Mosquito Repellant: Our festival takes place outdoors, in rural MB, and it has been an especially rainy season. Please be prepared for mosquitoes

6) Rain Protection: Rain Clothes, Rain BOOTS! Umbrellas, tarps BYL is taking place during the hottest, driest part of summer STILL it has been a particularly rainy season, and again we promise you will be happier prepared than you will be soaking wet from unexpected rain

7) Costumes, Rave Apparel, Flow Toys, Items that Express Your Inner Self! YOU are part of the experience - and we want to see what makes You be YOU! So breakout your coolest clothes, wildest shoes, lightup shwag, puffy coats, hoola hoops, glow whips, poi, and anything else that might accompany you when you tear up the dancefloor

Banned Items

**Discouraged/Banned Items (DO NOT BRING!):**

1) Glass: BYL takes place on a farm - a Rescue Farm; the Last thing we want to do is leave

broken glass around for animals, children, campers or wildlife to hurt themselves on.

Please be considerate of this when packing for the festival

2) Weapons:

This is a party where all are welcome to be their true selves, but violence is not welcome or

tolerated in any way shape or form. Carrying a weapon is not in itself a violent act, but the

danger it presents to a crowd of people is enough for us to request that weapons are kept out

of BYL

3) Fireworks/Flying Lanterns/Aerial Pyrotechnics:

BYL is located in rural MB, and is often under strict fire ban during the summer months.

Regardless of bans, aerial fireworks and flying lanterns present a significant risk of forest fires

and other negative consequences. Please do not pack or take to Bring Your Love festival

4) Hunting or Trapping Devices:

We are held on a vegan farm/animal sanctuary. There is to be no hunting or trapping of any

kind on the festival grounds please and thank you

5) Cowbells, Airhorns, Megaphones

These items are DISCOURAGED; they are not outrightly banned, but we do ask that you

be considerate of your fellow campers/festival goers when packing items.

There is some humour in airhorns, megaphones and cowbells, but from a distance and/or for

neighbours they can be very disruptive/jarring. We are at a MUSIC festival after all, and people

are spending hard earned money and taking time from their daily lives to come and enjoy the

music.

We want everyone to have fun, but please try and be courteous not to ruin the musical for everyone around you.
